Our aim at the Falkland Veterinary Clinic is to provide the best possible care for our patients and their owners. We can achieve this through the skill and dedication of our tram of vets, nurses and receptionists. A friendly, welcoming and approachable group of staff has always been a major feature of the practice.
The Falkland Veterinary Clinic has been established for over 20 years, moving to spacious new premises in March 2007. The clinic is equipped to the highest standards, enabling our vets and nurses to work to their full potential.
Although we have the facilities available to help us provide the best possible service, our greatest strength is our staff. An experienced team of veterinary surgeons is supported by a dedicated group of qualified Veterinary Nurses, trainee nurses, receptionists and ancillary staff. As a recognised Veterinary Nurse training centre, we ensure that our trainees receive the highest levels of practical and theoretical instruction. We pride ourselves on our high standards of patient care.
Our veterinary surgeons have a wide range of interests and expertise, in disciplines such as internal medicine, cardiology, orthopaedics, acupuncture, dermatology, soft tissue surgery, cancer care and exotics. Most investigations and treatment can be performed on site.
CONSULTATIONS
All consultations are by appointment. Appointments are available from 9am to 7pm on weekdays and from 9am to 11am on Saturdays. We have a Sunday surgery for urgent cases from 11am to 12 midday. When booking an appointment please tell the receptionist if you would like to see a particular vet.
EMERGENCIES
If you need urgent advice or attention out of normal surgery hours, call the clinic number (01635 46565) to be put in contact with the duty vet.
HOME VISITS
In most circumstances we feel that the best place for the examination and treatment of your pet is in the clinic, where we have a wide range of facilities and expert help. There are circumstances where home visits are necessary, and we will try to accommodate requests during normal working hours. Out of normal hours it will be necessary for you to transport your pet to the clinic.
NURSE CLINICS
Appointments are available with our nursing staff for a variety of services, including weight control, dressing changes, puppy and kitten health checks and advice. Our nurses can advise on flea and worm prevention, and are happy to administer wormers to your pet at no extra charge.
OPERATIONS
We operate from Monday to Friday. Patients are admitted from 8am to 9am, and should have been starved overnight. Most patients will return home the same day. Pre-operative health checks consisting of blood tests and an electrocardiogram are available to all cases, and strongly recommended for patients older than 8. Those patients undergoing general anaesthesia will be closely monitored by our trained nursing staff. We use a carefully chosen range of anaesthetic drugs and pain killers to make surgery as safe and as comfortable as possible.
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
Please give at least 24 hours notice for repeat prescriptions of drugs and food. In accordance with medicines regulations, all pets receiving prescription drugs need to be regularly examined by a veterinary surgeon.
BOARDING
We have some cat boarding pens available, and are also happy to board small mammals and some exotics.
FEES
Fees are payable at the time of consultation, at collection after surgery or when collecting prescriptions. We are able to accept most credit and debit cards. We will always be happy to try to give an estimate of costs for procedures or courses of treatment. Please remember that estimates can only be approximate as we are unable to predict precisely how a pet's medical condition will progress.
