Are you looking after the heart of your four-legged friend or is your petbroken-hearted?

Heart disease affects about 10% of all dogs with the incidence increasing significantly as the dog gets older. The incidence of heart disease in cats is almost as frequent as dogs but due to their more sedate lifestyle, cats are frequently diagnosed at a much later stage in the disease. However early detection and treatment of cardiac disease will ensure your pet lives a longer, happier life.
Do you recognise any of these signs of heart disease in your dog or cat?
At Falkland Veterinary Clinic we want to help you keep the heart of your pet as healthy as possible so throughout February, we are offering your pet a free Valentine’s Check to look for any heart-related disease.
Our vets will check for heart problems by evaluating your pet’s weight, pulse and breathing rate before listening to your pet’s heart and lung sounds with a stethoscope. If any abnormalities are detected, your vet may suggest additional diagnostic tests such as chest xrays or ECGs (electrocardiograph) at extra cost.
